Welcome to the Annual Red Dress Run that supports a 5k run for the Heart Association Charity. Ok so that may be the actual title but really it is just an excuse for everyone to put on a red dress and show up in the quarter to drink.

From what I understand this was started by NOH3.com which is touted as a drinking group with a running problem. I showed up one time and highly recommend doing it as it was a fantastic time. I actually need to get more involved with them. So if anyone one on NOH3 reads any of my ramblings get in touch with me.

Back to the craziness that is RDR.

My day started like most others. I got up early around 10:00 (it was a long night) and put on my pretty red dress. It was a high-low. I found that out later but it barely covered my twigs and berries. One thing I have found, if you are a heterosexual male in NOLA, you probably know your dress size and own a few that fit.

I get a call from a buddy of mine and I am off to go pick him up. He built a shopping cart outfitted with a custom cooler packed full of jello shots and beer. Quote of the day: “If he would just put this much effort into his job.”

We arrive in the quarter and find a decent place to park and start heading to Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop where we meet up with friends and the craziness ensues.

We start down Bourbon St and enjoy all the revelers. I can only imagine a tourist walking their first time to the Big Easy and getting in the middle of this mess.

We get separated towards the end of Bourbon so I start heading to the next meet up location.

I hit the next spot which is American Sports Saloon. Those who know me know this is one of my favorite places and they allowed us to host our RDR after party.

By three o’clock this place is packed upstairs.

NOLA brewery came in and did a tap takeover and was service free beer. It was a Mulberry and as strange as that sounds it was a fantastic beer. It went very fast.

We had my favorite local band playing called Ice Man Special who was dressed for the occasion.
